On December 20, 2018, George Toriello sent this information on this veteran in reference to the photo which appeared in the June 9, 1950 Record newspaper.  The man named “Conte” in the photo may very well be misspelled and his real name is Lewis C. Cotte.  He was born in New York in March 1841 and according to 1900 census Lewis C. Cotte was living on Hackensack Avenue, but no dwelling number is given.  Lewis C. Cotte enlisted in the Army on September 9, 1862 at the age of 21 as a Private with the 22nd Regiment New Jersey Infantry. <Find a Grave> shows he died on July 6, 1925 at the age of 84 and is buried in Hackensack Cemetery.

He is the son of Lewis Cotte.
